Class Descriptions
Puppy Kindergarten – This class is offered for puppies 7 weeks to 4 months of age. Our puppy classes capitalize on that special period during a dog’s life when they are most easily trained. Puppy training classes are designed to develop friendly, well-socialized pups, and to get pups and their owners started out on the right paw! We focus on socialization with other dogs and people and establishing basic manners. We will arm you with positive ways to address mouthing, chewing, housetraining and other puppy behaviors.
Adolescent Puppy – This class is offered for older puppies; 5 months to one year old. We focus on adolescent behaviors like jumping up on people and things, pulling on a leash or running away. If you would like to teach your dog to listen to you while burning off that extra energy running and playing with other dogs, this is the class for you!
Canine Good Citizen & Therapy Dog – The Canine Good Citizen (or CGC) program is a certification by the American Kennel Club and is open to dogs of any breeding, pure bred or mixed breeds. The Therapy Dog program is a certification program by Therapy Dog International and is open to all dogs. This certification will enable you to take your dog to schools, libraries, nursing homes, hospitals, etc. so your dog can interact with people in these environments. This is a preparatory class to prepare you for the test. Exercises include general manners including:
- accepting a friendly stranger
- sitting politely for petting
- appearance and grooming
- walking on a loose leash
- walking through a crowd
- sit and down on command and staying in place
- coming when called
- reaction to another dog
- reaction to a distraction like bikes, runners, children, medical equipment
- supervised separation
- leave it
Rally Obedience – Beaujes Dog Training is now offering classes in Rally Obedience, the new dog sport that is taking the nation by storm. Rally is a successful stepping stone from the AKC Canine Good Citizen® program to the world of obedience or agility. Rally offers both the dogs and handlers an experience that is fun and energizing. The canine team moves at their own pace, very similar to rally-style auto racing. Rally was designed with the traditional pet owner in mind, but it can still be very challenging for those who enjoy higher levels of competition.
BeauJes Dog Training offers Rally Obedience classes every Saturday at the Bainbridge Island Grange Hall. Please check out our Group Classes page for the latest schedule. Sign up for a Rally class now and see how much you can have with your dog!
Tricks & Games – Here’s your chance to exercise your dog’s body and mind. Learn fun tricks like ‘High Five’ and ‘Crawl’, along with practical ones including ‘Put Your Toys Away’. Tricks are a wonderful way to have fun and improve your relationship with your dog. Games are a great way for you and your family to interact with your dog that will be enjoyable for everyone!
