Look at the advantages of private in-home lessons:

Private in-home training is tailored to meet your needs and your dogs. You get one-on-one instruction without the distractions of a classroom environment. Many behaviors lend themselves to being worked on at home. Especially useful for developing management strategies and working on specific at-home behaviors. Often just one or two lessons is all you need to fix a nagging problem. If you need 3 lessons, there is a special discounted price of $275 (reg $300). The whole family gets to be involved (kids included!) as this is important so that everyone is being consistent with the dog. Private lessons are great for those whose schedules prohibit regular weekly attendance at a group class. And it’s the perfect solution for highly distracted dogs that don’t do well in a class setting or have not responded to obedience training in the group setting.

Another bonus! You save time, gas, and stress traveling to and from classes! Call 360-797-7979 or email judith@beaujes.com today set up a private in-home lesson for your special pooch! We’ll help make your life more manageable so you can enjoy your time with your loved ones, including your dog!

Judith has worked with Shelby for nearly two years now. One of Shelby’s duties is to visit our Residents in our Retirement and Care facilities. Shelby has unlimited energy; however, the residents continually comment on the improvement in her manners and they look forward to seeing her. Rather than jump around them, she calmly sits next to them and allows them to pet her. Judith has the patience necessary along with a calming influence on Shelby.

Although I was not a first-time dog owner, I was a first-time dog rescuer, and I quickly learned I needed help. A lot of help. Judith Bell to MY rescue. In a 2-hour appointment in my home, she solved every single training issue on my very long list. (I wish I had the list, but it included just about every major issue you might have, from house breaking to leash issues to changing her name.) I started out with a fearful, older dog who I didn’t understand at all, and I’ve ended up with a charming, sweet dog who I adore. We live together harmoniously and enjoy the value of play in both our lives, thanks to Judith!

My dog jumps on me all the time, even when I tell him “No!” Do you think he’s dominant?
Oscar’s mom

Dear Oscar’s Mom,
No, I don’t think Oscar is dominant! I think Oscar just wants to say hello and has been inadvertently reinforced for jumping up. Remember when Oscar was a puppy and how cute he was? When he jumped on you, all 8 #s of him, you probably petted him and probably even picked him up. Talk about a huge reward! Once our puppies turn into rowdy adolescents who weigh significantly more than 8 #s, the jumping behavior becomes a real nuisance. To stop unwanted jumping, try stepping into your dog and telling him “off”. Animals are very sensitive to space. Ever watch a herding dog get a flock of sheep to move? They never even touch them, all they do is move into the flock’s space and off they go! Stepping into Oscar’s “space” will let him know you don’t want him in your space, unless he’s invited. When Oscar’s not jumping, ask him to sit, then pet him as a reward. He’ll figure out pretty quickly that the best way to get attention is to be patient and polite!

Stay tuned! Next time we’ll talk about how to get your dog to come when you call him! And remember, “When you feel dog tired at night, it may be because you’ve growled all day long.” Warm woofs

Does your dog bark, growl, jump when he sees another dog on your walk? We can help fix your dog’s behavior so you can begin to enjoy those long Spring walks! Our Growly Dog classes use Behavior Adjustment Training, or BAT, to rehabilitate dog reactivity by looking at why the dog is reactive and helping him or her meet his needs in other ways. In a nutshell, BAT gives the dogs a chance to learn to control their environment through peaceful means. It’s very empowering to your dog, in a good way. Beaujes Dog Training is proud to be offering Growly Dog BAT classes for fearful/reactive dogs at our new facility in Gardiner and now on Bainbridge Island. BAT classes are ongoing with our newest series starting in March. Check out our Group Classes page at www.beaujes.com for dates and times or call for more information about our current and future classes! 360-797-7979 or email Judith at judith@beaujes.com.

Finn is a Border Collie puppy who has attended two series of classes taught
by Judith Bell of Beaujes.
He is a high-energy dog who needs structure and a good basis for acquiring
ongoing skills.
Through attending Judith's training classes he has developed a series of
positive behaviors while having fun doing this. Educating a dog's owners is
an important part of a dog's success in attaining acceptable social goals,
trust, consistency and a desire to continue and love learning new things.
All part of the Beaujes series of training classes.
Thank you Judith - It was a pleasure to work with you.
